"All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream." - Edgar Allan Poe In the year 2277, nuclear Armageddon has transformed Earth into a scorched wasteland. When one of their own--a young girl named Ria--is captured by an evil English lord, they risk everything to rescue her from his malevolent clutches. But to save one of their own, they must venture back out into the desolate wasteland to find powerful lost relics from humanity's past... and face the gods of this new world along the way. "We are all archaeologists of our own life." - Akira Kurosawa "Oblivion" is an independent film that was independently financed with NO studio involvement whatsoever. The budget for "Oblivion" was about $2,000,000. Every dollar given to the project was put back into making "Oblivion". "Completely unique for an independent feature film, no-one involved with the production had any prior experience in filmmaking or screenwriting. Everyone involved had full-time jobs, and the film was completed in only nine months." Despite this, "Oblivion" "wasn't done on a shoestring budget. A complete sound stage was constructed inside the Ocoee High film studio in Orlando, FL that allowed for total control of the visual effects and sound design elements." All the art assets were generated by having several artists working directly off reference samples taken from real-life historical architecture. This allows for visual effects to be generated for each scene with very little effort even though they are all hand-designed by different artists. Almost all of the computer generated elements, including the characters, were brought to life with visual effects. This included everything from facial animations to physical movement of the digital actors.
