As a wedding drafter, I've spent a lot of time thinking about registries and how to use them. I can't remember the last time anyone actually wanted to register for a bedspread or disposable silverware. The concept that it's an obligation to keep your life going with things you don't want or need just doesn't make sense anymore. I toyed with the idea of making "anti-registries" where people can save money by rejecting common registry items like china, pots, pans, flatware - the list is endless. Nothing against those who like to own such items (why do you assume my wife and I don't? It's just that we've both realized that not all of these items are truly desired or even needed), but most people would be happier about money they save. Even at this price, you still have to buy the stuff. A store has stocked up and decided to sell it all . Do they really think someone will come in and buy everything? No, there will only be a few buyers, and after a short time, items will pile up on the shelves and less people will be buying them. In this scenario, nobody wins - except maybe the store owner. The only way to win in the long run is to have a system that allows people to own the things they want and not feel like they're obligated to buy. This set of rules has been tested, and it works. Why will you find it here? Because I wish someone would have thought of it. You could get it cheaper on Amazon or at Walmart for $2000, but this is better. This will work because you always need stuff (lots of stuff), and there are no locks involved (not like "real" registries which will cost you an arm and a leg). It's also very flexible; you don't have to get what everyone else gets; you can get whatever your heart desires. You can get whatever your heart desires. You can get whatever your heart desires.
